RSS VS Email

August 29th, 2007

Whilst I do get some (regular) visitors, it surprise me that the RSS feed is low on subscribers.

I guess the reason is that most people don’t even know what RSS syndication is for…I could explain that, but I’ll leave it for a future post.

What EVERYONE should understand, is….drums roll….90s-ish EMAIL SUBSCRIBE!Want to be alerted whenever a new post appears on Signal-Eleven?

Put your email in the box below or in the sidebar on the right, and get an email in your inbox (that should be emptied and processed to zero, right? ;-) ) with the latest story here on Signal Eleven.

It’s unbelievable to me thinking someone can ignore what RSS syndication is! The first thing I do in the morning, just after waking up, is to check all the news with my newsreader (NetNewsWire)!

Still, it takes some thought to get used to it and seeing the real need for that.
My sister checks my blog manually every single day and this doesn’t bother her, because it’s one website among a handfull of others.
You get to appreciate syndication when you cross your personal threshold of sources or volume within your sources.
But then again, there are people that simply decide to drop some sources when they feel overwhelmed, and if it’s not a matter of “need-to-know”, like keeping up to date with business specific news, I can’t really blame them :)

I acknowledge anyway that I gained 3 RSS subscribers after this post. Somebody did some private research I guess…;-)
